# Activation

> What happens when a person approves your venue.

Your venue stays **pending** until a platform admin approves it. Approval is
always a human decision — there is no auto-activation setting anywhere in
Ace Up.

## What activation does

The moment your venue is activated:

1. Your venue is marked **active**.
2. Its **default tables are created** — a Lounge and a High Roller table, per
   asset.
3. Your bot is connected: Telegram is pointed at Ace Up with a secret unique to
your bot, the command list is installed, and the **♠ Play** menu button
   appears.
4. Your bot's short description and profile text are filled in with your venue's
   name.
5. You get a DM with your setup checklist.

## Your setup checklist

One thing is left for you, because only you can do it: running `/newapp` in
BotFather so your group gets a direct link.

**1. Open BotFather and send /newapp**

Choose your bot.

**2. Give it the URL from your checklist message**

Ace Up sends you the exact URL. Paste it.

**3. Set the short name to `play`**

This is what makes `t.me/YourBot/play` work.

The checklist stays on screen until this is done. It is the one manual step in
the whole setup and everything else is already finished when you get there.

## If you are rejected

You are told. A rejection is not silent, and it does not consume your bot token —
you keep the bot and can use it for anything else.

## Why it is reviewed

Ace Up funds the bankroll at every venue. A venue that goes live is a venue whose
losses Ace Up carries, so someone looks at it first. It also means a venue cannot
be created against a group by someone who does not run that group.

## Timing

Usually within a couple of hours.
