# Take a break

> Pausing your own account, and what a pause actually does.

**More → Limits → Pause**, or `/pause` in the bot.

Choose **1, 7, 30 or 90 days**. It takes effect immediately.

## What a pause stops

* Betting, at every venue — the house tables and every group's venue alike.
* Sitting at a table.

## What a pause does not stop

* **Withdrawing.** Your balance stays yours and stays reachable for the whole
  pause. A pause is not a lock on your money and never will be.
* Reading your history and stats.

> **A pause cannot be lifted early.** Not by you, not by support, not by an
> admin. There is no function anywhere in Ace Up that shortens one — this is
> checked by the test suite, not just promised here.

> Choose the length you actually want. A pause you can talk your way out of is
> not a pause.

## While it runs

Opening the app shows the date your pause ends and the one thing still available
— your wallet. It is a plain screen, not an error.

You are not messaged during a pause, and nothing invites you back when it
expires. Play resumes only if you go and start it.

## Starting another one

You can pause again at any time after one ends. You cannot stack a shorter pause
on top of a running one, because that would be a way to shorten it.

## If you need more than 90 days

Message [support](https://aceup.mintlify.site/help/support.md). A longer or indefinite exclusion is something a
person sets up with you.

## Other things that can pause an account

| Your country is blocked | Blocked | **Allowed** |
| The venue is paused or closed | Blocked at that venue | **Allowed** |

The pattern is deliberate and it holds everywhere: your money is never trapped
behind a status.
