# Play a hand

> The real Ace Up, running on play money, with nothing to install and no account.

This is not a video and it is not a mock-up. It is the Ace Up Mini App —
the same screens, the same felt, the same engine — dealing from a shoe your
browser builds. The chips are imaginary. Nothing here touches a wallet.

> Tap **Play · SOL**, set a stake with the stepper, and **Deal**. Hit, stand,
> double and split all behave exactly as they do for real money — including
> refusing a move and telling you why.

## What is real here

Everything except the money:

| | |
| - | - |
| **The engine** | The same `blackjack-core` the server runs. Not a reimplementation — the demo imports it. |
| **The rules** | Six decks, dealer hits soft 17, 3:2, double on hard 9–11, split to four. Read from the same file the game reads. |
| **The shuffle** | The real commit-and-reveal. Your browser derives the 312-card shoe from the seeds, exactly as [described](https://aceup.mintlify.site/fair/overview.md). |
| **The odds** | The house edge is what it is on the real tables. Nothing is tuned to let you win. |
| **The money** | Imaginary. A fixed stack, reset when you reload, and there is no deposit or withdrawal anywhere in it. |

## One honest limitation

In the real game the server keeps its seed secret until the round settles —
that is what makes the commitment meaningful. **In this demo the seed lives in
your own browser tab**, because there is no server. Someone determined could
read the shoe before playing it out.

That costs nothing here, where the chips are imaginary. It is also exactly why
the real game does it the other way round.
